Seoul, with its rich history and rapid urbanization, offers a plethora of attractions for travelers. However, navigating the city and discovering its hidden gems can be a daunting task. Recognizing this challenge, Sunghee Lee, a talented designer, has created Seoulist, a mobile application that aims to make Seoul more accessible and attractive to tourists.
The Seoulist app is designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of travelers, providing recommendations for tourist attractions in a similar way to how music and movies are recommended. By curating a personalized list of attractions, Seoulist allows travelers to make the most of their time in Seoul and enjoy a memorable holiday.
One of the unique features of Seoulist is its three-step structure, divided into curation, guide, and log stages. This thoughtful design ensures that the app remains a valuable companion throughout the entire trip, providing continuous communication and assistance.
Lee's attention to detail is evident in the user interface of Seoulist. The layout is optimized for one-handed use, taking into consideration the fact that travelers often carry luggage and rely on public transportation. The information is neatly organized, making it easy for users to navigate and find the desired content.
Seoulist utilizes easy-to-understand graphic UI elements, making it accessible to travelers from various nationalities. The selected elements respond to user interactions by changing color or increasing in size, enhancing the user experience and engagement.
Extensive research was conducted to develop Seoulist, including analyzing data from the annual report of the Government of the Republic of Korea. By categorizing tourists into group and individual travelers and identifying their nationalities, the app was tailored to meet their specific needs and preferences. Additionally, tags were used to match the interests of tourists with the available sightseeing spots in Seoul.
Creating Seoulist came with its fair share of challenges. The project required the collection and analysis of large databases, as well as the evaluation of tourist feedback. As a service that government agencies are involved in, ongoing updates and maintenance are crucial to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
Sunghee Lee's Seoulist has garnered recognition for its innovative design. The app was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges Seoulist as a well-designed, practical, and innovative creation that meets professional and industrial requirements.
Seoulist is not just a mobile application; it is a gateway to experiencing the vibrant city of Seoul. With its user-friendly interface, personalized recommendations, and continuous support, Seoulist is set to revolutionize the way travelers explore and enjoy the wonders of Seoul.
